Alternate Realities

It was down to the final five on The Bachelor, and Jake really had a dilemma on his hands as he had fallen in love with all five of the girls. Unfortunately, he was only allowed to give roses to four of them. I think Tenley has the best chance right now of winning Jake's heart at the end. Their one-on-one date went splendidly and resulted in Tenley really opening up to Jake about her failed marriage and the mistakes that were made during it. I really like Tenley and she is my favorite of the girls so I really hope that she can make it to the end. Gia and Vienna got a two-on-one date with Jake and that proved to be a case of girls gone crazy. The two ladies were so desperate for Jake's attention that it was almost comical. The girls all hate Vienna and I have to admit that I don't really see what Jake sees in her either. She appears very vapid and shallow, but that is just my opinion. I think what is keeping her there is her sex appeal and the fact that Jake just cannot get over how attractive she is to him.

Corrie did not have a very good date with Jake as they both seemed hesitant about kissing and then Corrie dropped the bombshell that she is still a virgin and is saving herself for marriage. That was definitely the wrong thing to say, as no guy wants to hear that. I liked how Jake played it off that he completely respected her decision and then sent her home. That was funny. Corrie should have kept that to herself and then she might have gotten a rose at the rose ceremony. Her honesty was what got her booted, although, really, she and Jake didn't have that much chemistry together anyway.

Now, we are down to the final four girls who all get to take Jake to their hometowns to meet their families. That should prove to be an interesting excursion for the ladies and should prove to be very revealing for Jake as he continues to make a decision on whom to propose to. I just hope he goes with his heart and not another part of his body!

High School Reunion was all about John and his racist remarks, while Antanus got a blast from his past and was encouraged to finally commit to one woman forever. The class spent a lot of time trying to convince John to see how hurtful his words were but John refused to see it. He just couldn't be convinced that others could construe what he was doing and saying as hate speech.

Meanwhile, Joe and Rachelle continued their courtship and it is obvious that they are falling for each other. I must say, I like their relationship and the two have really grown on me. While I don't really like the fact that Rachelle is still a summer girl, I think what she and Joe have developed is really sweet and I hope they are able to have a bright future together.

Antanus found himself in detention, and he had no clue as to whom it would be with. He was surprised to be greeted by two of his oldest and dearest friends, Tracey and Treda, who brought Antanus an engagement ring because they felt that it was time for him to finally settle down and marry his long-time girlfriend, Lakoiya. Antanus has been a player for all his years so the idea of actually committing to be with one person scared him greatly. So, he made the decision that now is not the right time to propose although I suspect that he still may propose at a later time in the reunion. He is right that he can't be forced to propose to someone but he also needs to keep in mind that he can't be a player forever. Eventually, he is going to want to settle down and since he seems to have found the right girl now, he needs to take advantage of it and make the decision to stay with her. He will feel so much better about it if he does. However, maybe he isn't ready to make that big a commitment. He just needs to be careful because he could potentially lose her forever. Will be interested to see how this plays out over the next few weeks. Also, I cannot wait to see the confrontation between Tracey and John over John's racist comments – it should be exciting and juicy!

Celebrity Rehab welcomed a new patient, as Kari Ann Peniche entered the rehab facility for extensive treatment. I'm not familiar with her but she is already leaving quite the impression with the staff and other guests. Her tirades are a sign that she is going through severe withdrawal.

Additionally, Tom Sizemore continued to deal with the effects of his long-term drug and alcohol abuse and the staff tried to deal with the fact that Tom's girlfriend, Monroe, was a bad influence on him. The guests also got to hear first-hand the detrimental effects of alcohol abuse as they listened to a woman who had been the cause of a drunk-driving accident that took a man's life. Her story was very powerful to listen to and I hope it had an impact on the celebrities. Too many addicts think that their addictions only impact themselves and don't even think about how their abuse impacts others.

These celebrities have been lucky that no one else has died because of their addictions. Many have not been so lucky. Addiction is a serious problem that needs to be combated and dealt with as soon as possible before it negatively impacts other people's lives. I hope that watching these celebrities and their struggles will inspire others to seek the treatment they need. Nobody should die because of drugs or alcohol. Ok, that's my soapbox for the week!!

Project Runway gave us an episode that dealt with a very serious subject: heart disease. The designers were challenged to create an outfit for a gala benefiting the American Heart Association. Their clients were all women who have experienced personal struggle with some form of heart disease. It was an inspirational challenge, and some designers were able to do a lot with their limitations. Others, however, created some uninspired and unflattering designs, and Jesus ultimately paid the price for his design that was just too much – it showed a lack of taste and just wasn't proportionately a good fit for his model. Amy's dress was beautiful, and it won her the challenge. I really wish that the designers had played with other colors besides red. I love red but there are so many other colors that they could have used to complement the ensemble. It made for a very boring runway show when everyone had on the same color just different shapes and designs. All I ask is for some color on the runway, is that so hard?

Lastly, we are adding a new show to the line-up this week: RuPaul's Drag Race. I was unaware of this show until very recently and decided to give the second season a try. I'm glad I did. The show follows drag queens as they compete to become America's Next Drag Superstar. RuPaul hosts and my favorite, Kathy Griffin, judged the first competition, which was inspired by Gone with the Wind. The queens had to make a killer outfit out of curtains. The show combines the fashion of Project Runway with the campiness of drag shows so of course I'm already hooked. Who doesn't love drag queens? I was sad to see Shangela be the first one cut, but I think it was her inexperience that did her in. I am hoping this show keeps the campiness and drama front and center!
